Last we publically saw of the Samsung’s GALAXY Note 10.1, it was during the Mobile World Congress event held in Barcelona, at the start of 2012. And unfortunately we left largely unimpressed by the specs the device housed. So suffice to say we were glad that Samsung decided to delay the device from the original spring/summer release date to ramp up its internals.

While there is no solid confirmation of its debut, the device itself has surfaced. A website named The Brave Post in collaboration with The Verge, has “captured” a device for their use. The untimely unboxing revealed the upgraded specs and several new features which will come with the awaited machine.

While the device’s features were being constantly leaked, there are two of them which were previously unknown. First one is the increment in RAM; apparently the device will come with 2GB of RAM instead of the previously seen 1GB iteration. The increase in RAM will obviously have a direct impact on the performance and will make the experience that much smoother and fluid. Secondly it seems that Samsung will include a method to pair the tablet with their smartphones. This might allow the users who own both devices to use the tablet as a speakerphone and a messaging device.

It was also revealed that the Samsung Galaxy note 10.1 will boost a 1280×800 LCD display(capable of HD playback), a Quad-core 1.4GHz Exynos Processor, A 6.5mm S pen with a dedicated slot, HSPA+ and a 5MP Auto focus rear facing camera which will be able to record HD video. There is also a front facing 1.9MP camera for video chatting. A 7000mAh battery will provide sufficient juice to the device. GPS, WiFi and Bluetooth are also included. The device is rumored to run of the latest Android OS but might launch with ICS instead of Jelly Bean. Of course these specs are subject to change but for now they seem to be pretty solidly confirmed.

The price tag and the release date are still unknown but given the existent state the device is in, we can estimate a more immediate launch. It’s also rumored that Samsung will officially unveil the slate on the 15th of August. The price will be the critical ingredient in the minds of consumers – until then we will keep our eyes peeled for an official announcement.

Samsungs’ specs are all suspect (except the added ram) from their long history with quirky proprietory additions. Example: the ir remote control on the tab 2, almost worthless, not to mention Samsung “Keis” software for peer to peer.
