If you felt a bit underwhelmed by Amazon’s first foray into the tablet market with the Kindle Fire, then prepared to get excited all over again. Moving over 5 million units last year its inevitable that the online shopping giant will release a newer model. Talks have begun to spread like, er, fire concerning the second coming of Amazon tablets. While specs have yet to surface, reports surrounding a higher definition screen have been cropping up across the interwebs. According to Tech Crunch, the new model will retain the 7 inch form factor but will sport an 1280×800 resolution screen (vs. current current model’s 1024×600) and a new 8.9 inch model will include a 1920×1080 screen. Yes, taking a page from Samsung, Amazon will let consumers choose between two models along with the original budget friendly model.

Despite having lower specs compared to most major Android devices, Amazon Kindle Fire’s $200.00 USD price tag was enough to be a selling point for most consumers. However in the age of dual core and quad core devices, along with the rumored $150 Nexus Tablet developed by Asus, it remains to be seen if lower price point will be enough for the company. Yet with Amazon’s large ecosystems, the tablets have no shortage of media to consume.
