While it’s been a month (give or take) since the coveted Android 4.0 aka Ice Cream Sandwich graced the original Transformer, ASUS has been surprisingly slow in addressing the major issues that shipped with the update. Random reboots, sleep of death and just plain ol’ sluggish performance crippled a number of user’s tablets. While custom roms attempted to pick up the slack, many users remained or rolled back to a much more stable Android 3.2 Honeycomb. Seems like ASUS finally heard your teary cries and has released an update to the masses.
Billed as update 9.2.1.21, ASUS has rolled the upgrade via OTA to the masses. While the changelog is relatively short, it adresses many issues plaguing owners. To see if the update is ready to be installed try the following:
- Head down the Settings menu
- Click on About Tablet
- Tap System Update
- Tap Check Update
Want to know what this update finally address? ASUS has kindly written the changelog below:
- Improves system stability
- Improves email stability
- Improves AppBackup App
- Improves MyLibrary stability
- Supports Wi-Fi Direct
- Supports unzip in File Manager
- Add restore tab function in Browser
Early reports includes stable performance though no word if it has fixed the problematic reboots. If you’ve updated your device, kindly share how it fares on your device.

I’m still getting reboots, not as often but they are still there. Also, sometimes I take the tablet out of the case and is stuck on the starting screen (Asus logo).
