Setup instructions:
In XBMC go to System -> Settings -> Network
Enable the following settings:
- Allow control of XBMC via HTTP
- Allow programs of this system to control XBMC
- Allow programs on other systems to control XBMC
In order to see your music and video files you need to enable the library function within xbmc and scan your music and video files to the library.
Common problems:
- The app currently only works with XBMC 11 "Eden" (Windows/Linux/Mac) or newer => I have not tested older versions and they will not work properly since the json-rpc interface changed.
- If you are using "nightly builds" things may not always work as expected since the json-rpc api is work in progress.
- If you cannot connect check that your firewall does not block incoming connections on port 8080 (http port) and 9090 ( for notifications)
- Playlists in xbmc must be in a special folder. See http://wiki.xbmc.org/index.php?title=Playlists

Am I the only one not able to use the app to its full potential? Remote works but launching anything else results in some java error etc... Ps. This happens with the official remote also :/ Windows 7, Frodo 12.2 Samsung Galaxy Nexus Stock 4.2.2

Playlist control is a cut above the rest, but some simple features, such as excluding compilation artists are not here. Overall a nice remote. Edit: Both myself and the missus have the paid version now - the on server playlist control is a dream to work with, battles ensue with the missus now though! On SGS1 running CyanogenMod's Jelly Bean, and stock SGS3. I'll be acquiring a tablet soon as well, can't wait to see it on that. Bumped up to 5 stars, it's the best XBMC remote.

Brilliant app, a pleasure to use. Would be perfect it allowed you to use your onscreen keyboard when searching. Edit: Bumped to 5 stars for the addition of the keyboard - I'd meant to do so when the feature came out. PS. Sorry for the misunderstanding about the replies, keep up the good work.

Updated April 2013. Been using this app since it's Beta days and watched it grow. Simply, it allows you to manage your XBMC playlist through your phone or tablet. Unlike other XBMC remotes I've tried, this app has been optimised for use on tablets (in addition to phones) and looks beautiful! The app allows you to browse through your library adding files to your active playlist. You can then go to the playlist and edit the order, remove tracks etc. It also allows you to stream the audio to your device rather than on the xbmc machine. I think there is also a feature which allows you to transfer your playlist (ie the actual tracks) to your device, but have not tried this out. All this functionality goes well beyond the current offering given by the official xbmc app, and is exactly what I was looking for. The unlocked version gives many more features and eye-candy and is well worth the money.

This is the best xbmc remote app by far. Second to none. The new interface is so much better and the only thing that looks good on tablets. Every update makes it even better. You can even use it to stream video to your phone which is just epic. Well worth the price to unlock. The on screen remote is still a bit basic compared to other apps.
