When I was asked to review the Escape from Zargnon game I had not heard of it but I was interested to give it a fair chance. Having played games since the 1980′s on different platforms I am always interested to try something new. What I look for in a game to entertain is gameplay that draws you in and keeps you playing.
When World of Goo was announced for Android early October I was very excited to see how this wonderful indie game would look and feel on an Android tablet. I already knew the game very well, having fully completed the game on my Nintendo Wii. Would World of Goo retain the same fluid, intuitive gameplay and amazing look & feel that I had enjoyed so much on the Wii? Finally I could find out for myself when in early December the game was released in the Android Market, with a nice discount for a limited time as well. (more…)
One of my favorite shows on TV is Spartacus: Blood and Sand which is aptly titled. It’s about Spartacus fighting in the gladiator arena and basically involves fighting, blood, sex and politics. Despite all the gory blood it’s a well done show with a sophisticated plot and overall, its very entertaining. In general, I love the gladiator genre and that’s why I was excited to review Blood & Glory. This game lets you live out your fantasy as a gladiator fighting to the death in an arena in front of a blood-thirsty crowd. But this game is no cake-walk so be prepared to claim your glory as a champion gladiator or die trying. (more…)
Sprinkle game involves water just as you’d expect but that’s just the beginning. The inhabitants of Titan live happily in straw huts until visitors from Earth cause a storm of flaming asteroids. It seems that destroying our own planet is not enough these days. Now the Titans have built a water cannon to combat the spreading fires in their homes. It’s up to you to man the cannon and put out all the fires. But it’s not that easy as there are many obstacles and puzzles in your way. (more…)
Shadowgun is the highly anticipated action & shooter game by the makers of Samurai II: Vengeance, Madfinger Games. The game is optimized for Nvidia Tegra 2 devices only and let me tell you that it doesn’t disappoint. I had previously thought that Gameloft’s 9mm HD was the best shooter game on Android but now there is a new king in town. Shadowgun has stunning graphics and absolutely sets the standard for how high quality games should look and feel on a tablet. I played this game for 2 hours straight and had to force myself to stop in order to start my review. So lets get to it. (more…)
Stripped down to the basics you will find similar gameplay to a well-known game called Angry Birds. You shoot at a target and the more efficiently you do it the higher your score. Other similarities include the physics of the game, the three tier reward system (broze, silver and gold) and the collection of differently themed levels; but the similarities end there. Is Burn The City different enough to spend your time on, enough so to buy the paid version? Read further to find the answer! (more…)
If you’re a huge scrabble fan and love kicking your friends gluteus maximus in the battle of the words, than you must download Words With Friends! Words with friends is a game very similar to scrabble where the person who has the most points after the pool of 100 tiles wins. What really makes this game fun is that you can play against your friends via contact list, Facebook or the game can also select random opponents. So the pool of competition seems to be limitless. The original popular iOS game Samurai: Way of the Warrior has been succeeded by Samurai II: Vengeance and made available to Android. This version of the app has also been optimized for Nvidia Tegra devices which includes most of the current Android tablets. The developers claim improved graphics and polished gameplay at 60 frames per second. Let’s take a closer look at what this game has to offer. (more…)
Bang Bang Racing is another Tegra 2-optimized game that looks great. Upon looking at how great the game seems, I wondered how well the game actually played since it does not use the conventional accelerometer controls that other Android racing games use. With its great cartoonish graphics, can Bang Bang Racing deliver a great gaming experience?
Remember how great it was when you were young? Absolutely no worries, free of life’s hectic pace and problems (except being “pantsed” by your older brother once in a while)? Well the developers over at GameProm want you to re-live your youth with Pinball HD for Tegra. Does GameProm help you revisit your glory days or turn you into a whiny teenager?
Have you ever wanted to travel through space? I remember, when I was young, I wanted to work for NASA as an astronaut. I never became an astronaut (obviously) but Galaxy on Fire 2 THD’s Android Market description seems as if it can be a good substitute to wearing that thick white uniform and big, bubbly helmet. Does Galaxy on Fire 2 actually deliver a space exploration experience that I use to dream of or is it just another asteroid disaster waiting for impact? (more…)
There are many different Tower Defense games available in the Market. Most of them use the concept of placing different kinds of turrets (towers) alongside a path in order to intercept advancing enemy units. Those towers usually have different statistics relating to the kind of damage they do and the reach they have. Placing those turrets relies on strategic choices you, the player, have to make. (more…)
